Thanks to an addiction to Bath and BodyWorks, I have completed all my Christmas shopping and I'm sorting it all out tonight to put in gift bags. They have a few products for men too.
Oh my ever lovin' gawd, I bought WAAAAY too much. I'm such a sucker for the sales and specials. I'll still have more than I could possibly use in a year, or even 2 years. Oh hell. I have enough here to cover next years' Christmas shopping too!
Have you started your shopping yet?

(23 posts)I would love to say that I'm done, but I haven't even started. I don't have a lot to buy for, but I'm always last minute. Every year I say I'll start earlier, but it never happens!

(1,495 posts)Taking the day off to do some shopping and get some things ready for Thanksgiving (stock, pie crusts, cranberry sauce, herb butter)
Congrats on being done! I'm hoping to be done by the 2nd week of Dec. Trying to be proactive this year. Wish me luck!

(11,589 posts)I have not started. I really get around to it a few weeks before the holiday.
last year I barely went into a store.

(17,865 posts)I hate shopping - so I do it all online. In fact, I am so adverse to crowds that I get all the household items, like TP, paper towels, toothpaste, soap, etc., before Thanksgiving so I don't have to step foot in a store.

(49,212 posts)And mostly I'm going to sew for people once I get my sewing room set up at my new house. Because I'm on a budget and I like sewing and hey, I have a sewing room!
I'm going to make one trip to Joann or Hancock (whichever has a better sale the day I go shopping) and one to GameStop for my teenage son and I'll be DONE.

(49,212 posts)I'm pretty lucky because so far the backtalk and eye rolling have been minimal, and he's helpful if not always enthusiastic about it.
He's spending next Saturday touching up the worn and faded bits on the trim at the new house, which he's excited about because it means he can climb up on the roof without me yelling at him.

(1,805 posts)We give a few bucks to the grandkids and that's it. Gave all my paper, decorations, etc to my daughter a few years ago. No tree, no turkey, no nada. Plus my daughter has a boyfriend that we REALLY don't care for (after two divorces), haven't been to her house since Xmas of 2010 and she lives 5 miles away. Xmas is way too commercial for me and I'm always glad when it's over. At least Nordstrom waits until the day after Turkey Day to decorate the store. More should follow suit.

(6,336 posts)90% of my gifts are for my nieces (1 month and 2 years) and I LOVE shopping for the little ones. I'm pretty successful in my campaign to turn the 2 yo into a crazy cat lady and buying cat clothes for infants and toddlers is just fun. I can't wait to see the look on the 2 yo's face when she opens the cat print tutu skirt that I got her.
Everyone else on my list (which is down dramatically) is getting a power bank (similar to this http://www.amazon.com/Power-Chain-Smart-External-Battery/dp/B00I3NDXZU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1415632286&sr=8-3&keywords=power+bank) and a (small) stocking stuffer (usually consumable such as coffee).
I worked at Bath and Body Works for 1.5 years and completely understand your addiction.

(21,020 posts)The grandkids are old enough now to appreciate cash, so that's what they're getting from me.
My son and daughter and their spouses get the usual assorted food basket type thing, probably the same for my mom and her special friend.
The only other one to shop for now is Mr Pipi, and he has a wishlist at Amazon.com to make it easy for me.
Oh, and one of my bestest friends. Haven't decided yet but I might do a shopping expedition at the local country store for lots of fun little goodies.

(1,328 posts)We now draw names, even for the kids, at Thanksgiving and set a dollar amt. What you can get someone from the wish list we all present also works out pretty well.
It just got to be too much and we are living mostly on SS so the kids came up with this and those that have less people in the family don't have to buy so much for those that do.

(11,913 posts)It's an out of production Clue game -- Museum Capers Clue. My son and daughter (14 and 21) love Clue and loved playing this at their daycare. They expressed a desire for it for family gaming. I found it on Etsy for $45-50 plus S+H, but found it on eBay for $24 w/ free shipping. Couldn't beat that.
I also bought myself the 'start of the season' Christmas decoration -- 3 mercury glass finials for the mantel from eBay. I'll do the mantel up before Thanksgiving, but wait to put the Christmas tree up until a few days before Xmas. We're hosting our big family Thanksgiving this year. Am not sure about Xmas. Usually we host Xmas as well -- picky food, sandwiches, cookies, snacks, salads -- so people can come/go as they please. We use the dining room table as a buffet and have a computer monitor as the centerpiece, then we all chat with Mom/Dad in Florida for a couple of hours. That's the closest we can come to incorporating Mom and Dad into the gathering. We open presents then too so they can see all the grandkids, etc. (We draw names for the adults, but not the kids yet.)
We drew both Mom and Dad, so we're hoping to find something for a combined gift.

(38,000 posts)Got all the big presents out of the way for the special folk. Am in the process of making the mass gifts for assorted relations - this year: earphone cord holders that double as screen cleaners. Natch, there will be impulse buys all during Nov-Dec because I'm a sucker.

(50,557 posts)Well...except for my brother. He's getting a game-used baseball I bought in April. The rest of 'em get 16x20s.
I think I'm going to pick out the pictures this weekend, scan them over the next couple of weeks, have them printed in early December and call it good.
