I used to watch Dark Shadows when I was a kid, so the draw for me was looking for the cameos by the original stars. I only managed to spot Quentin (David Selby), so meant to watch it again to look for the rest, but I wasn't up to sitting through it again...

Some movies are panned for missing the mark by people who had no idea where it was aiming.

That movie was awful. Just terrible. Really, really bad.

I wish someone would do a remake that stays true to the intent of the original show instead of camping it up.

I think it has potential to be a really frightful film.

I love Johnny Depp... but this was not the vehicle for him. A remake of Dark Shadows could be an extremely intense and frightening... but then I'm certain all producers would do is turn it into a blood and gore fest instead of something truly scary.

with Johnny Depp, Eva Green, Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter and others in the movie, it was still pretty much a train wreck. Depp is immensely talented, but he's also been in some real stinkers in recent years - Dark Shadows, Lone Ranger, the last 3 Pirates of the Caribbean movies, etc.

I watched Dark Shadows as a kid and loved it. While I give Johnny Depp credit for trying, he, IMO, wasn't a good choice to play Barnabas Collins.
