was a graduate of the College (now University) of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas, so it was easy for me to get the impression that the Monkees were singing about that little Arkansas town. Who knows, maybe they were?

That the Clarksville in the song, is actually Clarksville, TN, closest city to Ft Campbell and the 101st Airborne.
