This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by bluesbassman (a host of the The DU Lounge forum).
I've seen so many posts deleted lately, including my own, for no reason other than stereotypical "knee jerk liberal" reasons. This crap is getting out of hand! Every time it happens to me, I get a reply from someone on the jury apologizing for others who voted to remove my post.
Are we tolerant or are we interested in a forum full of blind affirmation? Do we want mealy mouthed water carrying or genuine discussion? I've not posted anything right wing in my TEN YEARS of membership, but this jury stuff if over the top and makes me feel that this community is full of hypersensitive dingbats... /rant
I am sure THIS will get reported as well... sigh.
(And if anyone replies "IBTL", you're part of the "problem."

the strategy is to "get em" sometimes and I've been hidden a few times when I had no idea I was being insensitive.
Do yours follow a pattern that's relevant to a subject matter?

(43,049 posts)unless the post is really nasty. I won't hide something simply because I don't agree with it.
Most juries I've been on went pretty much the same way, but not all. And I've seen some hides that completely baffle me.
There's a lot of muffled talk about being afraid to say some things for fear of being hidden. In one way, that's a good thing for civilizing speech, but then there is that history of governments, industries, communities... managing speech through fear.

(1,643 posts)If the post is on topic, unless it is deliberately abusive I leave it. That's how it should be, IMO.
