It's just Dad now. I knew this day was coming, but it's still a little sad.

(149,611 posts)I guess I never completely grew up; I called my father "Daddy" all the years he was alive...
I did feel a little silly but it felt right.

I always said "Mom" though! LOL

(26,117 posts)My 13 y.o. has been mentioning wanting to drive lately (eek!), but he still sleeps with a stuffed gorilla.
I think boys stop using "mommy" and "daddy" a lot earlier than girls do. And girls stop using "mommy" a lot sooner than they stop using "daddy."

9 year old calls me Dad, but she's willing to smile in order to get stuff, so there's a feeling of Daddy at those times.
13 year old will call me Daddy from time to time, when he wants something. Not sure why, but he slept in our bed one day last week.
Amazing how such seemingly insignificant things can be so important.

Of course, I still call my 70 year old father "Daddy" to much mockery from my wife).....some habits die hard, I guess.
