Does anyone here to yoga if so I have questions

I've been thinking on giving it a try. In recent years I've lost some of my agility as I focused more on lifting and such. So I figured yoga would be good cardio plus restore alot of my agility. So I wanted people who do it or have done it to give me some thoughts on it. I've heard there are different disciples is one better than they other. Also just personal experiences in general.

It's more of a stretching, toning, relaxation thing.

If you're new to the game, consider a beginners "Hatha Yoga" class.

Flowing poses with a relaxation period at the end.
Once you master a few poses, you might want to try other types of yoga.

I have done it, off and on for about 20 years.

I found that a beginners class will keep you interested, and it can be fun, too.

Go do it!

However, it is definitely great for you to be more aware of your breathing. Much of the moves require you to synchronize your breath to the motion.

Still, I am more of a beginner/novice in yoga. I only do the P90X and P90X-2 Yoga, and going to a bikram class every 3-6 months.

I must say though, that when I started it my flexibility has become much better. It is also a great core work out, because the stances forces it to work.
I credit it for allowing me to hit my knees with my forehead when I bend down to touch my toes.

You are right that there are many kinds nowadays, and if you are a member of a gym, it may be best to try one of their classes just to see how it goes, and if it fits you.

I don't suggest bikram, unless you've done yoga before, to the point that you feel comfortable enough to do some of the movements.

If you have cable subscription or On Demand, they have yoga programs that you can use. I've done a few of those too.

I'm pretty out of shape. I bought this yoga for beginners and a corresponding Pilates set. I like that it has a section for inflexible people. Also the reviews were good.

I started teaching myself yoga from a book when I was twelve or thirteen. You could check the library for a good basic introduction, or look over some of the sites online. I never got into the breathing exercises, just simple postures for flexibility and strength. It's easy to pick up.

both were at Cynic shows - Paul Masvidal is big into it and he routinely stops the shows and leads everybody in getting their stretch on.

It's actually quite fun.

Hah! Somone got that part on video at a show:

so that led into this
