Horrid Kate Gosselin on Today Show

At the end of Morning Joe, they showed a brief clip from the Today Show where Kate had dragged her 13-y.o, twin girls for an "interview". Apparently she is aiming for a comeback and wanted the girls to gush about how wonderful their over-publicized life was, but they were silent and miserable, and unwilling/unable to respond at all to Savannah Guthrie's friendly attempts to draw them out. Meanwhile, their mother was seething and trying to put words in their mouths. It was painful to watch. Granted, many kids that age (or adults) would be uncomfortable if thrust onto a national tv show with nothing much to say, but what kind of parent would subject their children to that?

1. What kind of parent? A narcissist.

Having grown up with one for a mother, I feel for those girls. I was once on a parenting message board where one of Kate's relatives spilled a bit of the beans...she's always wanted to be famous and it's a poorly kept secret that she tricked her ex (Jon) into the sextuplets by ignoring medical advice when she was on fertility drugs. She marketed those kids from day 1. People laugh at Octomom, but Kate Gosselin is the original Octomom and it worked for her. She's rich because of it. Of course, being a narcissist, it'll never be enough. She will attempt to pimp her kids out as long as possible to get every last nickel and dime out of them.

2. I happened to be watching that when it happened.

I fell OUT laughing! I hope I'm right but it looked as though those girls were power-playing her for all their little thirteen year old hearts were worth. I just hope the price wasn't too high for them. "Oh yeah? Put ME back in front of a camera and make me your cash cow now, will you? I don't think so, Ma!"

3. I wasn't sorry to see the mom hung out to dry by the kids on national tv,

but I hope she doesn't take it out on them later. She seems like the type who could do a lot of damage. And to me, they looked really ill at ease and not enjoying the moment.
