Fake fruit on the dining table? Tacky or tasteful?

A cream colored wide country bowl with fake fruit in it. Not WalMart fake fruit. More like Pottery Barn fake fruit.

Tacky or tasteful? Are you in the "If it's not real, why bother?" group, or in the "Hey, if it were real, it'd be smelly & rotten, so a nice folksy look, if the fruit really does look real" group? What say you?

don't know if it's tacky or tasteful, but it is practical, IMO.

Way better than a bowlful of rotten oranges, bananas, and apples attracting fruit flies and maggots.

Although, to be fair, apples last a while. Longer than oranges, and way longer than bananas.

I have some wooden pears that look pretty nice, I think. And some cute ceramic pumpkins and gourds that I use in the fall.

Like I always say, Martha isn't coming here!

but I wanted SOMETHING. The fruit arrangement seemed homey to me, and I love the ceramic wide platter they're in. But a friend hinted that fake fruit is, well, something SHE'D never use. I tried real fruit, but it gets rotten too fast. Apples will last, but I eat them.

I grew butternut squash a year or two ago and had enough to last all winter. They just sat around in my kitchen looking good for months. I'm not sure how this varies by type of squash.

she's with Ricky. While the lady is leaves the room momentarily, lucy grabs one of the apples in a bowl on the table and chomps down, and promptly gets her teeth stuck in it. The apple is fake, and she's stuck with this fake apple in her mouth.

had bite marks in it
a few years after she passed away, my aunt handed me a paper bag. in it was the purple glass grape cluster grandma had adorning her coffee table in the living room. still puzzled why auntie gave it to me - my grandma had 6 other grand daughters.
