I guess I'm the only one surprised so many people watch this stuff

Each year like clockwork there is an outrage thread for:

1. The oscars host/presentation/selections
2. Super Bowl halftime
3. Miss America pageant

I haven't watched any of them since I was in middle school...Clearly nothing of value has been lost....

Of course, to me, substance means zombies, ninjas, killer robots, giant monsters, ghosts, or at least just cover everything and everyone in stage blood.

Now all you need to do is lecture us on the finer points of why the British Zombie genre is so much more cultivated than our home grown Zombies then complain and opine endlessly about how Downton Rotting Corpse is delayed on PBS and your difficulty in avoiding spoilers from the limeys.

(just cause someone would probably take it seriously)

ones I see from other countries. The US zombies movies I see are usually about consumerism or the futility of violence, though this has been changing over the last decade.

The old Italian zombie movies were only about the extreme gore, which is what makes them so charming.

His movies are so depraved. I have a western by him, and of course it has cannibalism.

Fortunately, the commercials are available online now so I don't have to sit through the fucking game listening to idiots rambling away until one of the commercials comes on.

American entertainment really IS American exceptionalism - which the Right always punts to in every stump speech. Just not Hollywood, of course. Our entertainment industry makes billions - and employs thousands. We do entertainment very, very well. True - much of it (too much) is banal junk. BUT - we also have Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Jon Stewart, and Stephen Colbert. We also have Meryl Streep, Robert de Niro, Stephen Speilberg, and Ang Lee. And, as we're continually reminded, Hollywood is LIBERAL. Yes - overwhelmingly LIBERAL. With pots of money going to liberal candidates. Ben Affleck's movie just won Best Picture. So - let those rich Libbies have their night. Let them celebrate. Watch the show and enjoy the fun. See the beautiful women (and men) looking amazing. Many of these people not only entertain - they are activists for causes we believe in - and they write big, fat checks. So - why scoff at them for one night of Celebrity Prom? And why wouldn't the most successful entertainment industry in the world NOT have a night of - entertainment? Relax. Enjoy. Save the elitist scorn for CPAC. (Now THAT is one sad little prom).
