computer. I was booted out of facebook at least once tonight too.

I usually replace mine every 3 years or so.
I don't want them to crash!

you might inquire whether they have a place to sell computers that the university doesn't need. I'm not sure if most universities have this kind of used equipment sale place, but the state university here always has some computers (as well as all kinds of other stuff) listed online and displayed in a small building on campus- that's where we get our macs, not too old (we upgraded with a borrowed CD to the second-to-latest OS), and very good prices.
