Dad's b-day would have been yesterday, Mom's been gone 8 years now. Winter's gloom pulling me down.

Have been planning to retire to coastal Delaware for quite a long time, now wondering if that still makes sense with sea level rise. I just know that I can't take the grey gloom of NE Ohio too many more winters. Feel like all dreams slipping away. Can I just sleep until spring?

The Holidays plus winter's gray can add to sadness. We all go through it and we think we'll never get out of it but somehow we do. Spring refreshes.

I'm hibernating with DU to keep me company.

You don't to make retirement decisions today. Do you?

I've always wanted to live near the ocean.
I'm glad I moved away from Staten Island over 25 years ago. I miss the Jersey Shore.
I've got mountains and the Hudson River instead of saltwater. I day-trip for bird watching.
It isn't what I dreamed of but it ain't half bad.

Been thinking of visiting Florida, Mom and Dad's gravesite, in the Spring, a year after he passed on, but may travel sooner.

I retired about four months ago after living in the mountains of Wyoming for over 9 years. For 25 years I had managed mental health centers in Texas and Wyoming. Although rare in Texas, in Wyoming, with it's 6 month winter, Seasonal Affective Disorder was commonplace. Myself, I am very active physically and spent winters and summers out of doors there. I now reside near the mountains of Spain at around 3000 ft altitude, a far cry from the 7000 where I lived for 9 years. Although close to ski resorts here, it is much more agreeable.
