One of the perks of an office job, always get weekends and holidays off. 4 day weekend, baby!

If it's any consolation, I need to spend most of that time cleaning up the disaster area known as my house. I'll be scrubbing toilets and floors over my holiday weekend.

Well, except for the evening when I make all of my dinner guests work with me

Seriously. I do... muah muah muah.... but they love it so its all good.

Thank god my husband loves to cook. He'll get up with me but instead of going to the barn, he heads to the kitchen and gets busy making the feast.

over the course of about 10 years. The head chef at that restaurant was JFK's chef at the White House (a short gig unfortunately, heh).

He learned so much. He loves to cook but only makes the time to do it for big feast days when I would be tearing my hair out, and about as enthusiastic as Kali downthread. I've actually got the better deal by going to work imho.

Hope you can find some joy and thankfulness tomorrow Tuesday Afternoon, even at work.... Thanks for the good wishes.

for the hugh! meal that we will eat in 5 minutes because we are all boring and have nothing to actually converse about. I think I need a vacation.

Sorry you have to work, I almost wish I had a situation like that to get out of this stupid "tradition" I swear every year I am NOT going to do again. sigh

And anyone else who has to as well.

I'll spend my 4 day weekend watching football.

And I think I will try to make a pecan pie. My mom used to do it but she's passed on. My wife's mom isn't capable of doing it any more and we are all going out for the big meal tomorrow. So since nobody is cooking I think I will try to make a pie. or 2.

But considering that I have had to work more than full time every day for the last 17 consecutive days, I do not have the slightest bit of guilt.
