They will be decent caretakers. This is why Lucas did this. To protect it.

Lucas would have lost control eventually and it would have ended up with Sony or Comcast or... shudder... News Corp.

he has kids I'm sure his rights would pass on to them as nearly everyother creator's IP have passed onto their spouse/kids/etc. Only when whoever was in control decided to sell it off would it get taken over by someone else.
