I almost just passed on the keyboard as I was typing. That's sort of the idea anyway. I was violently illl all yesterday and eneded some downtime for today. I think I may just act on that. I'll back later, either this evening or tomorrow morning.

In that time, we responded to an unbelievable number of heroin overdoses (I performed CPR
on more than half-a-dozen), yet we never lost one (part of the reason is that addicts tend to
watch out for each other... and they call for help when needed).

The only person we EVER lost to drugs? JUST before I arrived, a soldier came home from a
night of partying with beer and Quaaludes, passed out in bed, threw up and choked on vomit.

It was not a pretty, dignified, nor smooth transition away from this level of reality.

And yes, he drank at the same time. We were constantly riding his ass about that. Somehow he survived and is still doing fine.

I studied the clean-out methods for each (half-lifes in particular) and know the rules for expelling alcohol VERY well and from way back. The other thing is to stay hydrated for whatever you're doing! I had a long talk with my GP about that danger as well as crossing over-the-counters like "sleep-aids", cough medicines, and ibuprophen. There are safe crossing zones and others that scream "NO! DON'T GO IN THERE" from the theater seat.

One particularly dangerous piece of folk lore is that taking acetaminophen before going out drinking will prevent a hangover. Not only is that bullshit, but you're just begging the combination to have your liver for dinner. The only way to prevent hangovers is to drink a lot of water (the one glass/beer or mixed drink rule works well).

So I'm basically in the no booze range right now 'cause I know damn well I'm going to need the meds again before bed.

It can turn a liver into brown goo immediately in some folks with little alcohol.

But really.....PLEASE don't mix the drugs and booze - booze becomes a force multiplier when mixed with the drugs you take.
