He's in the timber business and KNOWS trees. Says this one was probably there when Columbus 'discovered' America.

Drill a boring tool into the core of the tree to tell its age. A boring tool is a T-shaped tool with a long, thin hollow plug that drills into the tree to take a sample of the core. Scientists count the rings on the sample to determine the age of the tree and then cover the hole to keep the tree alive.

There are other ways too.

Or what they can do with the wood.

To some COC growth at all costs crowd, a tree like that shows an arrogant nature in need of taming.

The house is for sale, the tree will be cut down for townhouses.

Several old large oak trees have been cut down in the neighborhood for townhouses.

It is a shame.
