We had him put to sleep at about 5:45 this evening. I am too devastated to write more. There were some here who cared about him, and I wanted to say he is gone. Oh, GOD, it is killing me.

3. I'm so sorry - we went through that this summer, and it was one of the worst days

I ever had. Even knowing that that it was the right thing and the right time, it's so hard.

Something I read that really helped me, is that for cats there really isn't a sense of time - all the sadness and loss and desire for more days comes from us. For Monty, like for my big guy, every moment with you was 'now/always', and it was happy. As I sit here and remember, I can still feel and hear and almost see our guy - and since time didn't matter to him why should it for us? Set aside that linear thinking, and they're still here in us and always will be.

I don't know, maybe that doesn't make sense, but anyway:

I know your pain from losing a cat I had for 18 years.

Friend of mine lost his cat to cancer a few days ago. Reading his FB post and seeing the pic stirred up emotions.
