I've had it!: "Listen" is a verb!!!

On Newsroom the other night, Will goes to a video clip with the words "Watch and listen." Thank you Aaron Sorkin.

I get so mad when a news person goes to a clip imploring the guest to "take a listen." And they all do it!

Makes my skin crawl.

But, I also don't like the word "folk" and I don't like the phrase "Good Read" which is one of DU's forums.

"To Read" is a verb. I don't like it noun-ified.

who didn't like the word "folk" (or "folks&quot .

I'm not particularly bothered by the phrase "take a listen". Don't even remember when or where I may have heard it.

What makes me grit my teeth is the improper use of the pronoun "he" (or "she&quot . Usually happens when we're watching NASCAR races (hey...we need some kind of sport to watch when it's not football season!).

So anyway, the race announcer will say something like, "Jeff Gordon was on fire. There was a real contest going on for first place between he and Greg Biffle."

aughhhhhhhhhh!
