Guys, the counterpart survey question. What do you save your money for?

Retirement would be a nice answer, but well, hell, I'm broke.

But, if I did have some to bank, I'd put it away towards

1) my next car
2) retirement
3) health care insurance

Boring, I know. But gotta be done.

Back to the beer, the more money I have disposable, the better the beer in the fridge is.

My retirement plan is basically is to know which alley behind the Salvation Army stays the warmest in winter, and where to get the best cardboard boxes and newspapers

It's not one thing or another, but ultimately I save my money for things that will make me happy in bed:

Money to buy nice dinners, money for wine, money for condoms, money for fancy soft sheets, money for dating, money to spend on things to make me more appealing (this includes professional-skill-seeking and adventuring )...I really like getting laid. I could have an utterly-dismal life outside of bed as long as I'm happy in bed.

It turns out that my outside of bed life is pretty fucking cherry too once you get past the poor-as-shit thing.

I can't relate to the Weezer song Tired of Sex

Well,
Money I save for the day I:
Buy a House
Maybe get Married? Don't even have a girlfriend at this point. (I do already have a rock though)

I don't want a more expensive car.
I work multiple jobs.

I invest in myself, so I work out every day.
I just joined a wall climbing gym.
I join 10-15K races just so that I can run behind beautiful bouncing backsides that serve as my motivation to keep on going. (Basically, running behind one, then if I get too close, run past and find another!)

Basically that is a way to invest in my health. If I even skip more than a week, my blood pressure starts shooting up and I can't afford that.

Sometimes it's maddening when you can be gainfully employed ( until I guess the CEO wakes up on the wrong side of the bed one day ) and covering living expenses and being able to put a little aside per week/month, but then some unforseen and unplanned for event pops up that wipes out every bit of extra liquidity you might have gained, then it's back to paycheck to paycheck till you get another mini war chest...which subsequently gets wiped out by the next emergency.

Anyway, here they are:

1) House repair expenses from the "new" wearing off my 20 year old house. Roof shingles, heating and A/C units, major appliance failures.

2) Paying for the same type emergencies as above for an aging parent that blew through their own retirement nest egg by spending money like a drunken sailor, not wanting to realize at the time it was a finite amount, and now having nothing to show for it and barely getting by on SS.

3) One decent vacation a year to certain events with friends. Keeps me sane.

3) Good books/movies and keeping my PC upgraded and modernized.

Seriously, I save for:

1) Emergencies
2) Travel
3) My next car
