Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsDo you have a favorite, yet non-classic or less known (i.e., ATYPICAL) Christmas CD you play
every year? Not the ones we all know and hear every year. Not even the ones we STILL like despite their constant repetition. I'm asking about those that perhaps only a few among us might know about or appreciate. (This thread was inspired by an NPR piece this morning by a "rap" music producer trying to create a list to humor his Christmas-loving wife, but who is weary of traditional classics and no, he wasn't suggesting rap Christmas music... )
Mine is Bruce Cockburn's 1993 Album "Christmas", a mix of all kinds of influences--folk, rock, country, gospel, and probably about three or four other genres I can't describe. I just find it interesting--something hard to say about most seasonal music anymore.
SO, what are yours?

(11,358 posts)I never play Christmas music and in fact go out of my way to avoid it (especially the emetic "Little Drummer Boy" , which is quite difficult as you might imagine. This morning I'm doing without breakfast because EVERY restaurant and EVERY grocery store in Columbus is closed for the day. Mostly, I'll be glad when it's all over.
I sure hope you get some better responses than this one!

(102,262 posts)made me ask... At least Starbucks (yes, STARBUCKS) mixed it up this year, playing "normal" non-holiday music with obscure versions of holiday songs... Their employees certainly seemed happier (as a result, I'd presume).
I avoid those stores that play the endless loop of 25 or 30 songs--with a passion.
