Sammy Davis, Jr.
Tony Bennett
Bing Crosby
Nat King Cole
Dean Martin
Mel Torme
Bobby Darrin
Perry Como
Vic Damone
Andy Williams
Pat Boone
Anybody else?
Not which guy do you like, but which voice? I've been listening to old music and I really appreciate their beautiful voices.

(3,709 posts)Sinatra, Como, and Darrin...
Darrin's Dream Lover and Beyond the Sea are two of my most favorite songs.
I also love listening to Dean Martin...
No Pat Boone or Andy Williams for me...liked Moon River...but wish someone else had made the song famous...don't like Williams at all...

I'm crazy about Sammy Davis Jr. too! More for his style though, and the super-coolness of his songs.

(28,394 posts)My faves: Tony Bennett, Perry Como, and Nat King Cole.
Bobby Darin was a teen idol in the early 1960s. He was younger than the others, I believe.

(28,120 posts)Boone & Bing Crosby were both hard-core republicans.

(19,835 posts)Of this list these are the guys the sound and delivery just seemed so natural.
Crosby always irritated me with his 'jazzy' stuff-- it never felt sincere, more like he was slumming.

(6,670 posts)I forgot Harry. I love that guy though I don't really know his songs except the Banana one.
Graybeard
(6,996 posts)His voice deepened and became more mellow with age.
And I would add Johnny Mathis to your list (at any age!)

(50,130 posts)Frank would be my second choice.
And hey.....those of you who enjoy crooners should be familiar with Michael Buble, the Canadian who has a damned fine voice, a helluva band, and great sound man. Check him out if you haven't already. He just released his Christmas album.

(16,350 posts)He is AMAZING! That is the smoothest voice I ever heard. Really, it's one of those that sounds good no matter what he's singing. I am loving this. I'm so glad I asked you all. Thank you, grasswire!
Happy holidays, too!

(50,130 posts)He had an incredible sense of timing and an imagination in his delivery that had no equal.

(32,081 posts)But, I am biased. My grandma played Dean Martin all the time, so I kinda grew up on him. I do love Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra, too, and Nat and Sammy.

(33,688 posts)I love everything about the way the man sings - his tone, phrasing and musicality.
#2 Nat Cole - ditto
#3 Sinatra. He has the best phrasing, but I prefer the tone of Bennett and Cole
#4 Mel Torme

(16,350 posts)I was looking for a Christmas song and came upon some of these guys and their voices are so smooth and mellow. I am eating up Mel Torme songs, and I never ever paid him the least amount of attention before.
