Of the old-time crooners, whose VOICE do you prefer?

Frank Sinatra
Sammy Davis, Jr.
Tony Bennett
Bing Crosby
Nat King Cole
Dean Martin
Mel Torme
Bobby Darrin
Perry Como
Vic Damone
Andy Williams
Pat Boone

Anybody else?

Not which guy do you like, but which voice? I've been listening to old music and I really appreciate their beautiful voices.

Sinatra, Como, and Darrin...

Darrin's Dream Lover and Beyond the Sea are two of my most favorite songs.

I also love listening to Dean Martin...

No Pat Boone or Andy Williams for me...liked Moon River...but wish someone else had made the song famous...don't like Williams at all...

To me he has the dreeeamiest voice I've ever heard

I'm crazy about Sammy Davis Jr. too! More for his style though, and the super-coolness of his songs.

My faves: Tony Bennett, Perry Como, and Nat King Cole.

Bobby Darin was a teen idol in the early 1960s. He was younger than the others, I believe.

Boone & Bing Crosby were both hard-core republicans.

"You think God gave me 'Ain't That a Shame' to sing and 'Tutti Frutti?' Yes, I do."
- the arrogant, narcissist, Bush-supporting Pat Boone

Of this list these are the guys the sound and delivery just seemed so natural.
Crosby always irritated me with his 'jazzy' stuff-- it never felt sincere, more like he was slumming.

His voice deepened and became more mellow with age.

And I would add Johnny Mathis to your list (at any age!)

Frank would be my second choice.

And hey.....those of you who enjoy crooners should be familiar with Michael Buble, the Canadian who has a damned fine voice, a helluva band, and great sound man. Check him out if you haven't already. He just released his Christmas album.

I love everything about the way the man sings - his tone, phrasing and musicality.

#2 Nat Cole - ditto
#3 Sinatra. He has the best phrasing, but I prefer the tone of Bennett and Cole
