I'm of 2 minds about it...

(20,176 posts)It reminds me of this customer I used to have at Starbucks that grew a goatee, then shaved off one side and the area between his lower lip and chin to make a question mark. It looked idiotic. The same guy about a month later gave himself a "highlights mohawk" by bleaching a 4" wide strip of hair running from his forehead to the back of his neck and dyeing the rest of his hair jet black.
He looked like some sort of poorly-conceptualized comic-book villain.

(36,649 posts)Both of our heads were getting sort of bushy, so mom decided we both needed a haircut. Out came the mixing bowl & scissors.
When dad got home, he took one look at us & took us to his barber for a couple of buzz cuts.

(12,272 posts)I guess I am of 2 minds as well, it is clever and artistic, but too showy now and will look sloppy in just a week or so.

(20,234 posts)Mind you - I spend my days surrounded by a few hundred young artists so I'm not in the segment of society that recoils in horror at ear plugs, sagging pants, or facial piercings. I'm pretty lucky to work in a place with no cubicles and very few khaki pants paired with blue button down shirts with sleeves rolled to 3/4 length. I like to see people experimenting with self-expression, it just makes life more interesting.

(24,146 posts)i am in management at a call center, but no one blinked an eye when i came in with my hair buzzed almost clean off. while that is an acceptable hair cut for a man, it's not widely accepted as a hair cut for a woman.
could be in food service, delivery driver or something where he can wear a hat all day.

(82,849 posts)Kinda dumb, but if he changes his mind, five minutes in a barber chair, and the silliness is gone. Despite the overhyped salesmanship on behalf of "ink" or "body art," tattoos still win the prize for dumb in my book.

Actually, I'd really like to see some big ol' cool tribal plugs in his ears. That would work nicely.

(26,219 posts)and unlike a tattoo - he can shave it off and/or grow it out if he decides he doesn't like it.
Rattails are so 80s, but that is really clever.
