So, what should you be doing now, instead of hanging out here?

I should be changing laundry loads and throwing on something for dinner.

This is more fun.

I don't want to be a domestic slave anymore, even if it is just to a Maytag washer/dryer.

The husband and I were up until almost 5am listening to old music. My cat decided I should wake up at 7:30am to feed him.

Every time he starts to fall asleep I go poke at him. Yeah, I'm evil. So what?

I have a whole sci-fi AD 4500 world created in my head and in notes typed on my computer. I even have created a language descended from American English for my sci-fi world. I just need to get the ambition to start making a story out of it. I want an epic story involving the decline and rebirth of a civilization, much like Asimov's Foundation books.

novelettes. Admittedly Maxwell Grant is a house name. A real actual guy wrote Shadow novelettes at the rate of two per month for years.

There are hundreds of them. And they're not badly written. And Maxwell Grant certainly had no computer. He had a Remington or some relic like that.

What's keeping us back?

the hiring manager is my best friend and he's refusing to let me not apply, but my resume has to get past a HR goalie before I can interview.

He's swearing he can train me but I'm "hard-tech" illiterate (my background was the front-end user tech side of PR, Social Media and NPOs before I went into banking. I know content, CMS, social-media platforms and apps, and GUIs. This is all servers, networks, virtual machines, codemonkeying and databases) and the job is remote troubleshooting and repair of networks and software for radiological equipment.

Let's just say I'm fairly certain that if I get hired, we're both getting fired...and he's making me CC him on the resume/application so he can make sure I don't "shank" it.
