OMG! OMG! OMG! I am at the library and I just uploaded about 30 photos to phucking photobucket in the time it used to take me to load one! AND there is nothing wrong with the account - or my laptop/firefox/or anything else on the machine - it is obviously my damn slow dial-up.

can't stay long today because the youngest's car gave him some trouble this morning and I had to drive him to work - and thus pick him up as well. Also need to get some food for dinner, but at least I finally know now after what? 4 months that is wasn't photobucket. I need to write their support guys and let them know. heh

If you have a smart phone you can set it up to be an internet wifi hot spot. Might be a bit faster than dial-up.

ETA: There is a monthly charge for that, but you would be able to give up the dial up.

I am planning to switch numbers with him at some point when I have the spare change for a usb modem then I will be mobile AND fast!

no broadband although I could get satellite, but my understanding is that pretty much sucks too, so waiting on the phone thing. or rather waiting on the MONEY thing, but man, the library is sure nice and cool, may just spend the summer down here

Some libraries have some trouble with guys who frequent the computers and pleasure themselves to pictures women post on message boards. I've seen them myself last year when my internet service was down for a couple of weeks. Icky icky. Always use the hand sanitizer, kiddo.

this thing with photobucket was driving me nuts (probably the poor tech guys too) - hey when it is all you know, the speed issue isn't that bad, but once you have the taste of FAST - wow. And air conditioning!

I finally switched to Comcast cable and I love it. It is super fast.

14. I'm really rural (so is Kali) so we've commiserated on not having access to cable or DSL

or virtually ANYTHING other than dial-up for a decade (more!) Its just simply not available.

Verizon's coverage finally came my way and although I only have 2 bars of strength here out of 5 bars, it's sufficient for their wifi unit to do anything I need.

I remember sooo many threads I was afraid to even open them since if they had even 2 or 3 pics they'd simply crash my computer. No movies, youtube, photobucket, even listening to a radio show or radio broadcast online - all of that was simply too much for dialup.
