If there was one thing you could change about yourself what would it be? I cannot think up topics to

to make conversation with except for superficially when I first come upon somebody. My recall (sourcing stories, topics from my memory) is horrible once I've been talking to somebody for more than a few minutes. I'm dependant on things being novel to get me going. Novel ideas, novel events. Once someone reminds me of something my memories are perfect - like watching a movie. But I remain dependant on someone who is an active listener or a group of people to talk. So I end up quiet unless I am in a group. I'm used to it now.

When I started smoking, it was cool.
This was in the 50s.
All the cool people smoked.
Hell, damn near everybody smoked.
Everywhere.

Doctors (or models in white coats with stethoscopes around their necks) recommended various brands in magazine ads.
"Not a cough in a carload"
"Soothes your 'T' zone"
"Chesterfields...They SATISFY."
Boy, did they!

And on the fledgling TV.
Doctors smoked.
Pilots smoked.
Cowboys smoked.
Macho men SMOKED.

And I know this post will get all the "YOU CAN QUIT NOW" and such.
And i just say "Piss off".
I'm really not asking for advice, OK?
I'm 70 years old and in pretty damn good health for my age.
And I'm hooked.
I already know that.
Yeah, it's expensive, but it's still legal.

I've tried quitting a few times and always came back.
As Mark Twain said, "Quitting smoking is easy. I've done it many times."

sooner.

I've only been veggie for a few years, I've never been more satisfied or felt better! I feel I wasted so much time!

Don't think I could have done any better than that. I pat myself on the back whenever I look down on anyone else.

I would like to be cheerful, optimistic, and relatively fearless.
