(18,124 posts)had extreme prescience. In public, our citizens standing in front of public televisions with fox news on remind me of 1984 movie. Read the book also. What was it? Thinkspeak. Who ever controls the flow of information, wins. Rethugs and fauxnews ran this big time this election cycle. It will only get worse. Our only hope is to keep thinking for ourselves.

They always lie, its what they do, it's why they are Republicans and conservatives.
This is a great graphic, though. Good work.

(13 posts)I lean liberal and tend to vote Dem, but I know people whose honesty and principles I respect who vote the other way. Liars exist, yes, in both parties, yes. But please don't make such rash statements as this one, it furthers the divide between right and left and reinforces partisanship.

(135,425 posts)Jumpin' Jim Jeffords, Linc Chaffee, Mike Bloomberg, Jim Webb, Gabrielle Giffords, Arlen Specter, that's just the tip of the iceberg...even Howard Dean and Hillary Clinton, after their college educations sunk in, made the leap to the Dems.
How anyone can support such a bunch of craven liars is beyond me. One doesn't have to do the actual lying to be a liar; if one stands on the sidelines--or in the legislature--and cheerleads the liars, they're liars themselves. There's nothing but garbage coming out of their mouths. They are the party of the RICH, and they do not care about the regular citizens of this nation.
That's the sad truth--it's not at all 'false.' The party that was the GOP was beaten to the brink of death by Nixon's southern strategy and its beating heart cut out and eaten by Newt Gingrich during his scorched earth techniques in the Clinton administration.
What's left is a bunch of mindless, soulless, angry, selfish, crazy people.
Money Booboo got TROUNCED. Obama has a MANDATE....and anyone who doesn't see that is not in touch with the real world. The GOP still doesn't see it, so what does that tell us?

ELECTION SPOILER: Obama wins in a LANDSLIDE
Yeah, while my prediction of the Popular Vote didn't turn out like I wanted to, I certainly predicted an Electoral Landslide for Obama.
Looks like I missed a decimal point somewhere.
15% to 20% turned out to be 1.5% to 2.0% for the Popular Vote.
I never had any doubt Obama would get his 2nd term & I knew that I called that field of challengers dead on right.
I think some vote stealing was going on because the Popular Vote doesn't seem like it would be that close.
No matter.
The mandate is now HERE & we have our openly Progressive President at last.

(48 posts)You think just because there are recordings of them saying these things that they will admit it's a landslide for Obama??? The likes of Will, Morris, et al will never admit Obama won by a landslide. They're already making the claim that he has no mandate and that he won less votes than last time yada, yada, yada. These people are devoid of facts and the reality that the United States no longer looks like them - old and white.

"Every election predictor was wrong, except one: Incumbents usually win." (emphasis mine)

In Coulterland, every predictor, including Nate Silver, whose state-by-state electoral predictions were 100% correct, was wrong.
But here's where it gets truly bizarre:
http://www.anncoulter.com/columns/2012-11-07.html
Reality:
2004: Bush 286, Kerry 252.
http://edition.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/president/
2012: Obama 332, Romney 206.

(111,277 posts)didn't do much since it was after victory had been declared. I pointed out that it had done several things: it crushed the fantasy of rich men that if they threw enough money into TV ads, they could buy any office they wanted--they're crushed; that Karl Rove is likely now out of a job because he lied to all his bosses and kept extorting more cash out of them; that Florida's electors had turned a victory into a complete rout.
So yes, it's a landslide and Florida had quite a lot to do with that.

(8,361 posts)it was extremely important to we Floridians who voted for Obama and the liberals on our ballots that Florida went Dem. Makes me proud.

(174 posts)I believe his "legitimate rape" comment in late summer started energizing Democrats. It got national news and cast a shadow over Republican momentum at the time. The Repubs did not do enough to get rid of him and the rest is history. Thanks, Todd.

Like nobody ever heard the words "nuclear option" when the Dems were in the majority again ... or how there were record numbers of filibusters when the Repugs are in the minority ... or how the Teabaggers killed the agreement which would have avoided the "fiscal cliff" ...
or how Mitt got LESS votes than McCain did in 2008 ...
or how a landslide as defined by a projected Mitt win is NOT a landslide win for Obama ...

(1,451 posts)That is my theory as to why they act this way. It is the same wishful thinking of thinking I am going to score a home run and only get to first, or strike out. We are a sports oriented society and republicans seem to embrace that kind of attitude in politics as in sports. It is a weak strategy, a subconscious one, and a predictable one in outcome from lazy thinkers like them.
a2liberal
(1,524 posts)Don't you understand? 332 is only a landslide and a clear mandate if you are a Republican. If you're a Democrat, it's a sign of a closely divided country. As a Democrat, you need 538 electoral votes and 100.00% of the popular vote for a landslide, and even then it's iffy.
