3. MI Proposal 2 to preserve collective bargaining lost too

It is good that proposal 1 failed but I am concerned that the Michigan legislature will pass a so called Right to work law now that proposal 2 failed. Even though Democrats gained seats in the Michigan house the Republicans may still try to enact such a law.

4. Thanks for a good summary and about Maine...
|
We passed, after 3 failed attempts, to get 53% of the voters to say it's ok to marry the one you love. 47% "holdouts" may also have been "small government and freedom folks"...yeah, well. Maryland and Maine share the role as the only two states to have ever passed by the general voters, the right to marry the one ya love. I'm straight, but it's about friggin' time to let freedom be. And about Michigan, wow. Emergency Managers pushing out officals who were voted in fair and square is WRONG in so many ways. Good for the Michiganders who threw this out, and as for the Mich Gov, he's next.

Last edited Sun Nov 11, 2012, 08:55 AM USA/ET - Edit history (1) I couldn't convince my wife on proposal 1. She voted for it. She is convinced that "we have to do something." What I can't convince her of is that "doing something" and the anti-democratic takeover of the emergency manager law are quite different. Her response is then "well then they could have elected better people." Her claim is that it is "still democracy because they elected the state government." I think she has accepted fascism and doesn't realize it.
