Kurt Vonnegut was such a clear thinker who was able to convey his message in the most interesting way. I was a little surprised that they did not mention the alternative title to Slaughter House Five.....The Children's Crusade.
This book had much to do with who I am. My ninth grade English teacher, Mrs. Marshal, was trying to reach the stoner that I had become at that time. She told me of a book that had recently been banned in our library. She had a copy of that book in her desk and offered to loan it to me. Our little secret. I read that book many times and discussed it with her "on the sly." I eventually earned a B.S. in English Literature. My career was as a Union carpenter, but my love of reading came from Mrs. Marshal and Kurt Vonnegut,Jr. This book has been required reading for my children. While the scenes were dated, the message of Peace and love for our fellow human beings is timeless. That and all of the possibilities like circular time encourage people to think. Definitely a classic.
