Incorrect. The religious exemption was open to everyone including Mormons. BTW Many Mormons have served in every war the US has fought in since 1830, the founding of that church. So your bigoted asinine diatribe against Mormons is wrong on its face.

BTW. There is a monument in San Diego commemorating the Mormon Battalion of the Mexican American War.

Because pastors in Protestant and Catholic churches have to go to seminary and seriously enter the ministry as a profession to be excused from military service I believe. Mormons apparently don't.

As for the excuse of conscientious objection, Romney could not demonstrate in favor of the war and the draft and then claim to be a conscientious objector.

So what excuse applies to Mormon missionaries? They do not qualify as pastors in the way the Protestant and Catholic pastors or priests do. Takes years to become a pastor in many Protestant churches.

this particular mormon wants to be the commander in chief of the Armed Forces of the United States of America... and due to his behavior, he is not fit to be that. He is on the record protesting in favor of the draft and the war while at the same time, excusing himself so he could go traipse around France like a dandy, writing love messages in the sand.
