this documentary hit home with me when i heard the previous babysitter of romney's children had been excommunicated from the church of latter day saints as the same thing happened to me when i was just 18 years old and pregnant out of marriage. a high school teacher of mine, who was an elder in the church, found out i was pregnant and i received certified mail requesting i meet with the bishop and elders of the church. i was told to hold my child up to public ridicule within the church or be excommunicated. i chose not to do that to my daughter and was excommunicated but in the letter i received, i was told that i could rejoin the church by taking the new member instruction classes again. to this day i wonder what would have changed my situation to make me acceptable within the eyes of my accusers to make me "worthy" to join the church again. i also have difficulty with organized religion and trust due to this situation. how could a church that claims to be devoted to family and family values treat a member in such fashion? i was confused and disillusioned. i feel i have made peace with god for my transgressions (which are not my daughters transgressions) and that his forgiveness is what i need to be worthy, not a man's or group of men.
