It feels like two years, actually, but I know it was a long, long time ago. The first info that was leaked was the part about the global tribunal presided over by judges chosen from the ranks of corporate lawyers, a tribunal that would decide lawsuits brought by corporations against any signatory nation that passed regulations that would impede corporate profit in any way. Increasing "corporate sovereignty" means undermining national sovereignty. That is what is really going on, the continued progress of global corporate power to castrate nations. What will the role of nations be in the future? Probably to control their populations (military, police) and that's about it. The Obama quotes coming out of Germany are creepy in the extreme. I don't know how he lives with himself. There is an article by Peter Koenig on Global Research right now in which Koenig maintains that Obama was called by corporate elites to a meeting during his run for president in 2008. It was there that he agreed to push TPP and TTIP in exchange for huge infusions of money into his campaign. Is it true? Who knows. I do know that as soon as I read the initial leaks about the TPP, my first thought was that this was a major mission for his presidency from day one. That it isn't going to be ratified before the end of his second term is a bit strange. I wonder if he put it off so he wouldn't have to take responsibility for it or, perhaps, even, that he hopes the next president will refuse to sign off on it?

That is very well put.

I voted for this man twice. But, from the first week of his presidency and forward, I questioned his integrity. That's when he threw out the public option and stocked his cabinet with conservatives and DINOs.

This two-minute video shows Obama at his absolute worst, as he attempts to sell the TPP.

In these excerpts, he is being visibly dishonest. Just pay attention to his slithery body language. Even he does not believe what he is selling.

Our standard of living has declined every year since NAFTA. It was of zero benefit to the American citizen. While it did a tremendous amount of harm.

Say goodbye to minimum wage increases by State and Local governments. All a corporation will do is declare that a raise in minimum wages will adversely effect their profits. How many State and Local governments can afford such a fight by corporations using the TPP ISDS dispute resolution process designed by and for multi-national corporations? You will now have corporations able to use this dispute resolution process to sue all levels and forms of governments. They can also just threaten to use said process which will "discourage" defenders due to the legal costa etc..Does this sound like giving up governmental sovereignty for corporate profits? Follow the money.....

Also, will Clinton appoint anyone but corporatist judges who may or may not have a social justice heart? Think about the probabilities given where she comes from.......

Also, she is "currently" against TPP. However the US Chamber of Commerce has put out a message to it's membership that after the election, they are sure she will find reasons to be "currently" in favor of TPP.

For all the world, it seems to me like this is a back door shell game way that The Corporation is using to steal our sovereignty right out from under us. Never mind other countries doing it to us, this is the Corporate takeover of our own government. I agree with you Baobab, it's a Trojan Horse.

The only thing that the people of this country can do to stop the TPP and it's associated agreements is peel the big "Sucker" sticker from our foreheads and get Senator Bernie Sanders into the White House now, along with a Democratic House and Senate so together they can 86 the whole business once and for all. HRC is from the same branch of the Democratic Party as WJC & PO and I think that pretty much insures that if she gets elected, she will put it on through.

NAFTA and GATT were negotiated in GHWB's Administration and signed by Bill Clinton not long after he took office. They had a big shebang in DC. Invited all the living Presidents. Best thing since sliced bread. Had it not been for Ross Perot, the American people would not have had a hint that something could go wrong with GHWB's wonderful New World Order Trade agreements. Now, 24 years later, our lives, our standard of living have been lowered. Corporations are doing gangbusters, but the people not so much. Wages have flattened out, with all the profit going to the top 1%.
