The officer is African American, he is far more likely to face charges for the shooting. The victim of the same systemic racism that predisposed him to shoot the naked teenager.
Racism is a snake that feeds on itself and bleeds on all of us.

The cop should be charged with murder. Period!

They cannot get away with stating that the cop feared for his life when he likely had non-lethal alternatives. And if he did not, that is all the more reason to indict the police chief as well for dereliction.

This shit has to stop.

Cenk suspected that the officer would not be charged for the shooting. He is basing his statement on his experience as both a journalist and an attorney.
I think the chance of an indictment is far greater for this officer than if he were a white officer. I can easily see the systemic racism in American law enforcement rebounding back to snare the African American officer where a white officer would be better shielded.

I am not defending the actions of the officer. I am saying the inherent racism of law enforcement, the war on drugs, the school-prison pipeline, and private prisons is larger then our current fears.

It should be staffed the same way juries are staffed.
Recommend formal inquiries or not.

I think the primary issue is the type of training/conditioning they receive along with the quality of the leadership at a particular department. Use of lethal force situations in training needs to be radically reformed, along with new treatment of psychologically challenged individuals or those with negative drug reactions.

Racist and class distinctions in how one is treated needs reform.

The "brotherhood" us-against-them culture within many departments.

Lack of connection to the communities they work within.

Greater discrimination/background checks/psychological testing for those with ambitions to be a cop.

They are cowards. The Barnie Fife's of the world need to have one bullet and not be allowed to put it in their gun. I am more than outraged with this crap!
