(17,862 posts)She was tasked with covering a local news story, and I asked her if they had any sort of credentials that could be obtained. It was coverage of a local sporting event. She did not have an answer to the question. I wondered how such individuals should be treated (lets say they have a pool area for cameras etc for example). I don't know much about journalism, and my daughter is more interested in the technical aspects of the process (in particular video editing). She is thinking Cinema/Film Studies instead of Journalism in college (actually that along with a technical degree like Computer Science/Electrical Engineering).
I have talked to her about doing more longer form documentary type stories. Two suggestions I made was to explore Newt's claim that it makes sense for poor school children be janitors or Rick Perry's claim that kids cannot pray or read their Bible in school (both untrue) while you can have homosexuals in the military (still uncertain how the two relate). To pursue such a story she is going to need to have credibility.
By the way Cal Thomas is an idiot.
