1. I've lived here all my life

I'm asian, and when confronted by white folks who have some animosity towards me, the first thing out of their mouths is, "Do you speak English?" As if 80% of the world doesn't already. Dude can't speak anything but English and has the gall to ask if I speak English. Virtually every person in every other country can speak English, more often than not, better than Americans. They certainly can spell better and use proper grammar better than any of the tea party poster makers.

They're just ignorant and blind.

a few blocks, but I have been there when a few people have asked me, while browsing in stores if I worked there, or Did I speak English? The worst time, was while visiting a Benihana, I got up to go use the women's restroom there, when I felt someone touch my arm and ask "Excuse me miss..Do you Speak English?" I nodded, and they said, my son here needs some extra chop sticks and on my order can you make my steak a little rare?" He actually thought I worked there.. and I said .."I am sure your waiter will be here shortly.. excuse me" to which he exclaimed, "HOW RUDE, I will report you to the manager!" ... and I said, "You do that sir, I don't work here!"

People visiting Japan town just assume if you are Asian, you must work there... It can be a little frustrating to say the least!!

I mean, if you're going to try to denigrate me, at least try to do with with real Chinese words (not that I would know what they mean; I don't speak a lick of Chinese).

20. I worked at a call center with a number of foreign students. These kids not only spoke their native

language, very good English, but often other languages as well. One young African woman also spoke several other European languages (but "not as good as English," (she'd be quick to qualify) and her grandparents' tribal language. Some of the local recent high school graduates, many of whom spoke pretty poor English and no other languages would often make fun of their accents when on the phone. Also an active sub teacher who 'd had many of these kids in class, I often called them aside and gave them a chewing out that emphasized that they needed to get half as accomplished, language wise, as these foreign kids. A surprising number took it to heart (or at least were careful when I was around). Ironically, some of the Black students from from Philly and Pittsburgh (this was in PA) were just knocked out/impressed by these African and Asian kids. American "exceptionalism" ican be a blind and unthinking source of pride.

I shall use that also. For years when on applications of any kind when it wanted a racial identification, I always wrote HUMAN. Didn't get some jobs because of that. Others HR people just smiled and moved on with interview. You're a true human.

The Ferguson execution murder has done one good thing, it turned over the rock that these racist cockroaches were living under and they now have scurried out into the daylight to reveal to the world the cesspool of racial hate and bigotry that amerikkka REALLY is.
