Thom Hartmann: America No Longer has a Functioning Democracy

Washington doesn't give a crap about you....unless you're a billionaire bankster or oil tycoon. How did our democracy get so corrupted by money and greed - and how can we re-claim control over our political process and country?

5. It's the RepubliCONS who worship Putin

They think he's so manly on his horse without his shirt. And W looked deep into Putin's eyes and saw his soul. How touching.

Oh but wait, suddenly RepubliCONS have gone all anti-Putin because they really, really want to go back to the cold war.

But Russia's fake democracy is about equal to the US's fake democracy so really comparing the 2 is like comparing apples and apple.

Thom Hartmann Rocks. He really knows his stuff. He is one of the absolute best radio hosts in the country. I hope his stay on RT is long and fruitful.

Hell the Koch brothers' father certainly enjoyed the wealth he made off of Russia, why shouldn't the rest of us?

9. Reality check: No, Putin's dictatorship is not equal to America's problems with its democracy

how you can even say that is beyond me. Putin has shut down all independent news services. Putin is stomping on gay rights and dissent. While it's obvious that US democracy is suffering in all the ways we all know about, compared to Russia, the US democracy looks pretty healthy.

6. And what was said.....

that was not true. I have learned to trust overseas media reporting on the US gov. I do have reservations about RT reports on their government, but I still get a good insite. When listening to the news one has to engage ones brain.

on edit...I don't shoot the messenger.

for several years. This is clear. Thank you. I am now involved with the get out the vote efforts because I believe the 2014 and 2016 elections are really really vital.

A Democracy at any stage has various degrees of graft and corruption. As long as the majority of voters do not care about them neither do the politicians. (In fact the politicians like it that way quite a bit!)
