Also unfortunately the end of our nation's great experiment of creating a Representative Democracy for all citizens to enjoy and prosper in.

A few unelected people will have the ability to exert control over our Congress and possibly even our President by misusing the data they collect. They can use this data to insure the policies they support will pass in Congress and get signed into law. If anyone opposes them, they will know all his/her secrets and will be able to destroy his life and/or his career. If these few wish, they will be even able to start wars. Probably they will use the data for their own profit and end up fantastically rich.

Of course, because of all the uproar, some restrictions will be placed on NSA data collection but over time they will be bypassed.

Of course to be fair, it is somewhat possible that the data collected by the NSA will prevent a major terrorist attack or be used to catch criminals and hinder the activities of drug gangs in our nation. No rational citizen would wish to see a nuclear bomb set off in a major city by a terrorist group or our nation overrun by drug cartels.

It would be nice if the collection of mega-data could be tightly regulated and any abuse would be severely punished. I doubt that this can be accomplished.
