(12,618 posts)They just never stop slinging mud. It's like it's part of their DNA or something. No matter how dead a horse is they will continue to beat it in the hopes that it will get up again.
John Kerry's Vietnam service, Obama's birth certificate, and now this non-story. The right will sling mud everywhere and anywhere in the hopes that it will stick.
God, why do we have to put up with these cretins?

(13,532 posts)but they choose to focus on this. It's beyond useless. On paper an opposition party should be useful and oppose scary over-reach and excess but instead we got absurd distractions like this.

From Wikipedia.
From The Blaze.
My summary:
Professor Derrick Bell was a member of the faculty at the Harvard Law School. Prior to that, he had been a civil rights attorney. His major accomplishment in the sixties was assisting James Meredith to enroll at the University of Mississippi. Professor Bell was a leading spokesman in the eighties for more diversity in law faculties. This was during the regime of the Republican Southern Strategy, a media strategy to scare white people implying that admitting black professors to more lucrative academic positions could only be done by lowering academic standards for those positions. The subtext of the argument was the assumption that black people are for the most part unqualified for such positions and that discrimination is a thing of the past.
While there is mainstream criticism of Bell, this is not mainstream. It appears that Britebart's last contribution to American discourse was like many of his others: an example dog whistle racism. The far right (which includes Britebart, Hannity and Ms. Malkin) simply sees Professor Bell as an uppity (rhymes with digger) who dedicated his life to opening doors for Afro-American lawyers that the far right would like to keep shut and locked.
