A haunting image ... we have Iran nearly surrounded.

Here's my analysis. This map shows that we have been working on "isolating" Iran for some time, and it's all about oil. Iran has oil, and they are selling it to China. Our allies are completely dependent upon oil from the Middle East. Japan has no oil. France has no oil. Germany has no oil. The U.K. has the North Sea, but even they are dependent on oil from the Middle East. Our allies have been pressuring us to get involved in Syria--to fight Iran, for Syria is Iran's proxy state. We must stay involved in the Middle East. Like it or not.

From this map, one can easily discern what our foreign policy goal has been all along. I am not advocating war, but I think it's useful to see exactly what we are doing and why.

and the national security / surveillance budgets....put all those people to work doing something that promotes the common good and the general welfare for a change. Toss in the BS drug war expenses that have resulted in screwing up foreign countries, and just generally mind our own business....

What a different world that would be. We'd have a ton of money for rebuilding this country, and making its citizens' lives better, and human civilization might even survive....might even become civil.
