(10,597 posts)Barbara Honiker (sp?) I tried to think of her name the other day when we found out that indeed, she was right about the October Surprise at the end of Jimmy Carter's adm and beginning of Reagan's.
God, this is like my life flashing before my eyes. I remember all of this. It's all true, folks. Not a debunked "conspiracy theory."
I don't know about anyone else, but I have never been in favor of covering up the truth. I'd rather know the truth, thank you. Let the chips fall where they may. Otherwise, everything is a lie. Your life is a lie. The country is a lie.
Lying is never acceptable. Because when you start to lie, you have to keep lying. Before you know it you believe your own lies and eventually you are not going to be able to keep up with your lies. Eventually, you're going to get found out. Just as we are finding out now about everything that has unfolded in the last 60-70 or so years.
And all for the lying, face-saving "National Security" state. Unable to stand up and tell the truth, to admit that someone, some politician, or cabinet member, or military leader did a bad bad thing. And have been held above the law for all these years. And Democrats are just as guilty as Republicans in continuing the lie. Maybe that's what that little envelope that each new President finds on his desk when he first enters the Oval Office? To not get any silly ideas in his head about telling the truth when he comes upon it? It's like "a deal he can't refuse."
We have absolutely no right to look down our noses at other nations when they are corrupt. We are are evidently more corrupt than any other nation on the earth.

(429 posts)Please send the link to this video to friends, relatives and other websites. This should go viral. Here we are looking at 50 years of unprosecuted criminal behavior. From the Kennedy assassination, Watergate, Iran Contra, the 2000 & 2004 stolen elections, the illegal Iraq War, and the destruction of the economy, are all acts of treasonous gangsterism. We have been subjected to nothing but lies for over 50 years. The fact that these vipers were never brought to justice, explains our current predicament.
Thanks for posting this video.

I found it interesting that in 1988, (like today) the realization that "our" political parties are nothing but different arms of the same system (ruling elite repressing the citizenry), yet Americans still have not founded a viable third party to work for our interests.
There is no doubt that our present system is broken and will never actually represent the majority of Americans, it has always been geared to keep average citizens repressed, it just keeps getting worse.
They spoke of the facts that Nixon was aware that mayor daley in chicago cheated to make sure that Kennedy was elected. Also, Carter had all of the information about "the October surprise" that reagan used to make sure the Iran hostages would not be released until he was elected. The way in which LBJ covered up the (government sanctioned) assassination of Kennedy.....
This was all done to "protect the system" so that the proles (us) would not learn the truth.
If there is any hope for America it lies in the formation of a viable third party. One that actually represents the people. Yet (again) there has been no attempt to build this viable party. If we tried and successfully recruited the handful of politicians who seem to actually represent the will of the people (Sanders, Warren, Grayson, Kucinich, etc.. real progressives) we could have a bloodless coup of our existing PTB and actually create an America that is for the people.
Yet we watch as another election is over and watch our candidate return to business as usual (screwing the majority for the elites) and we still do nothing.
America has become a third world, fascist country, whose majority is economically miserable, yet we do nothing to change it.
Until we actually unite and act, we are screwed.

(3,576 posts)If under these circumstances things don't get corrected then I will consider third party candidates. Until the Democrats are given a real chance to make change I will not give RepubliCONs a leg up by voting for a third party. Vote DEMOCRATIC, screw third parties.

More from that article linked above:
On a warm night in April 1996, Colby went off in his canoe on a tributary of the Potomac River and never came back. The local coroner determined that he suffered a heart attack and drowned, but there were rumors of foul play or suicide. It is tempting to think that Colby somehow got lost in what T. S. Eliot called the wilderness of mirrors. Or perhaps he always knew what he was doing.

(57,936 posts)beginning with the 1960 election and even before. That's the span of my adult life right there.
This is a great discussion of the events that many of us lived through. It may seem cynical to those who did not live through the history. It may seem based on conspiracy theories to those who have not followed politics through their lives and to those who are young. But these gentlemen are discussing undeniable facts for the most part.
I hope that those who watch this video will agree with me that Hillary Clinton is an establishment candidate. She is sponsored by the military-industrial complex.
It would be a terrible mistake for ordinary Democrats, especially for us women to back Hillary. She is one of the Bush mold, just bearing a Democratic label.
If we want to keep our sons and grandsons out of the way of bombs, mortars and IEDs, if we want our own homes to be safe from terrorists, if we want to have a productive, independent economy rather than an economy that just consumes itself, we have to break the stranglehold that these criminals have over our democratic processes.
It is not a matter of armed revolution. That would just perpetuate the crime and anger. We have to join together and peacefully require more, aspire to something better.
I think we can do it.
So let's start thinking of candidates for Congress in 2014 and 2016 who are wise and strong and who are not bought by the military-industrial complex and who will not sell us out to their masters.
