Ryan's Despicable Soup Kitchen Antics A Perfect Metaphor For GOP Ticket's Disrespect For The Poor

Forbes OP/ED
Rick Ungar, Contributor

Just a quick snip from the middle of a quick read ...

"Upon learning of the mistake the campaign had made, certainly Mr. Ryan’s spokespeople came forward to apologize and set the record straight, right? Certainly the Romney-Ryan campaign made the effort to issue a statement that would inform anyone who is a donor to the charity— or considering becoming one—that, while their intentions were noble (false photo ops aside), they had inadvertently caused a problem for the soup kitchen and that nobody should hold the charity responsible for playing politics as that was not what had occurred. Surely they would have done this in an effort to help St. Vincent out of a jam the campaign had created, yes?

Nope.

You see, the GOP ticket—led by a man who actually wrote a book called “No Apology”— doesn’t roll that way.

So, rather than help St. Vincent get the story out there so that the campaign could correct any potential problem they had caused, the Romney-Ryan team sent out Chris Maloney, the Ohio communications director for the GOP presidential campaign, who said, “Our campaign and Congressman Ryan were pleased to bring attention to the meaningful charitable contributions the St. Vincent De Paul Society makes to people in need.”

Wow. Who behaves this way?"
-snip-

Rest here, good rant form someone who grew up in the area ..

How about disabled persons and elders in Long Term Care.

Compare direct care providers (just like those at St. Vincent's but in health care instead) to those who are paid to assuage the public conscience by assuring everyone that everything is fine and saintly in those budgets, no need to ask questions about who is doing the actual work of caring for others.

but barging in unannounced to stage their photo op.

It reminded me of the time Baby Bush cleaned his glasses on the sweater of one of the crew of the David Letterman Show, without asking her or her even knowing.

When you are entitled, the rest of us are just props.

fooled by the Romney's, Ryan's and the GOP's obvious charade of giving a shit about 'average' people. Maybe they don't think they deserve better than to be abused by these creeps.
