Corn just as high as a crackpot's eye

Corn just as high as a crackpot's eye
Daniel Ruth, St. Petersburg Times, 12/30/11

There are probably many reasons why Newt Gingrich has suddenly found his political fortunes dropping off a cliff faster than Hosni Mubarak's, not the least of which is equating his own self-inflicted failure to get on the Republican presidential ballot in his home state as a fate comparable to the worst military defeat in a single day in American history.

It was Gingrich, displaying all the grasp of U.S. history of an Afghan goat herder, who argued that his inability to submit 10,000 valid signatures to get on the Virginia ballot was somehow a tragedy on a par with the Dec. 7, 1941, Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, which claimed 3,000 lives, decimated the Pacific Fleet and plunged the nation into World War II.

And this silly man insists on referring to himself as a "historian"?

Sigh. Gingrich's illiterate hubris makes John Travolta's Vinnie Barbarino on Welcome Back, Kotter look like Arnold Toynbee.

I don't live in Iowa, but I am close enough to get their TV stations. It is interesting.

Judging by the ads, none of those clowns seem to know a thing about Iowa. They don't understand the culture, the issues that would interest Iowans, or the questions the people might ask them.

In order to get someone's attention, you have already strayed so far away from reality that there is nothing that a sane person can do to help you. The clown circus in Iowa is just plain, outright, funny. "Mommy, RP stole my campaing leaders" "I won't sink so low as to call my no good, dirty, nasty, worthless, and shameful opponents names like they do" "Hey dere babiee, you wants to see where da special sauce for da pizzas comes from" "If our current president would just allow us all to celebrate christmas out in the open, then all of our problems would just magically disappear" "Newsletters? What newsletters? Oh, THOSE newsletters. I am not a racist" "Who cares what I said yesterday, this is what I am saying now"

I so enjoy watching this impending train wreck with such anticipation of the moment when they are finally forced to come out and say publically........."at least I'm not black!" Then we can all just go vote our consciences.
