Meadows burned WH docs & wife Complained of 'bonfire' smell that drove up dry cleaning costs

I recall Cassidy testifying to Jan 6 committee about Meadows burning WH documents but not that his wife
was complaining of dry-cleaning costs to remove the fireplace smoke smell.

--And also I recall the maids complaining of documents plugging the WH toilets [which is not a focus of this article]

Seems there is a LOT of evidence removed forever!!

Hutchinson in her new book and during a New York Times interview described a White House steeped in paranoia.

Hutchinson alleged that Meadows burned files in his fireplace, which ran up his dry-cleaning costs.

The former GOP aide told The Times that Meadows and other staffers feared that individuals from the "deep state" could potentially swoop in and find the documents they were disposing of.

Hutchinson in her memoir wrote that Meadows chose to dispose of documents in his fireplace in the waning days of the administration in January 2021, with Meadows' wife grumbling about the mounting expenses of removing the "bonfire" scent from his suits.........................

fireplace use. Old houses especially, like my son’s house built in the 1740s. So depends on what kind of fireplace he has and how much was burned.

5. Bad design. Old, deteriorated flue. Generally not a good idea to even use it.

A lot of houses have burned down due to inadequate and old, worn out chimneys. Now wouldn't that have been ironic in Meadows' case.

It's an interesting detail but not critical to her testimony about him burning documents in the fireplace.
