Taylor Swift call to action drives 13,000 people every 30 minutes to voter registration siteSinger urged US fanbase to use their powerful voices by taking action on National Voter Registration Day
Taylor Swift managed to drive record-breaking numbers to voter registration website Vote.org after urging her 232 million followers on Instagram to take action.
On Tuesday (19 September), hours after the pop star, 32, called on her US fanbase to register to vote in honour of National Voter Registration Day, Vote.orgs communication director, Nick Morrow, announced that our site was averaging 13,000 users every 30 minutes.
Fun fact: after @taylorswift13 posted on Instagram today directing her followers to register to vote on @votedotorg, our site was averaging 13,0000 users every 30 minutes,
13! Lets just say her reputation for being a mastermind is very well-earned.
Earlier that day, the Anti-Hero singer had posted to her Story, asking followers: Are you registered to vote yet?

(20 posts)It was in several states, but this will rack up enough new voters in 2 hours to make that difference.
Turnout makes the difference, hence the efforts to block voters whenever possible.
That makes democracy better right ?
Right ?
Oh, wait, this just in, it is anti-democratic.
Who would have thought.

(7,617 posts)The youth vote is our greatest hope.
As an old white guy, I say this because I have seen the results of my generation first hand - I lived through it.
We didn't get to where we are now overnight. The great strides of the 60's - civil rights, voting rights, Medicare, etc. were made basically by the Post War, WWII voters - most Boomers were not of voting age until 70's.
Most of this shit show started in the early 70's and got on steroids in the 80's with Reagan.
People are living longer and old people vote at a much greater percentage than young people. The good news is the voting age is now 18 vs 21 thanks to the Vietnam War protests.
If young people would vote even close to the percentage that older people do then a lot of our problems could be resolved. They can truly change the world. We need them/you desperately.
IF you are young - PLEASE VOTE, if you know someone young - Tell them to PLEASE VOTE! Our Democracy and out planet cannot continue down this present path.
PLEASE VOTE ☮
