"Rush Limbaugh's Phony Empire Exposed"....very interesting indeed!
http://www.alternet.org/newsandviews/article/1026763/rush_limbaugh's_phony_empire_exposed/"The business model of radio is matching advertising dollars with ears via content. The model of right-wing talk radio, on the other hand, appears to be matching dollars with mostly phony listeners via fakery and hype.
If you've ever listened to a right-wing talk show and were impressed that a caller teed up a perfect swing for the talk show host, you may have been listening to a setup. For example, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin and Glenn Beck are syndicated by a company called Premiere Networks. That very company has a secretive voice talent hiring service called Premiere On Call with an ironclad confidentiality agreement:
By joining this roster/agreeing to perform work for Premiere you are also agreeing to keep the type of work that you perform confidential. This applies to information acquired while working for Premiere or any of its affiliates.
Disclosure to any third party, sharing project information or publicizing(including via social media) may be considered grounds for dismissal or further action.

(5,364 posts)What a scuzz. And this from someone who reflexively calls anybody that offers a good argument to him a "seminar caller".
From back when I used to listen to him ( during a bout of complete ignorance ) I can see in hindsight his favorite callers were either polished, fast-talking uber confident sounding business types who pushed plutocratic corporatist rhetoric, or perky, feisty women with conservative social views and a love of capitalism. He'd fill in the blanks with concubines trying to stroke his ego by talking about football.
20 million fans my ass.

It was during the Clinton administration. He was doing a song about the HHS Secretary, Donna Shalala to the tune of "My Sharona" with a chorus of "She's as left as left can be".
My first reaction was that if Rush thinks she's an extreme leftist, I should introduce him to some Trotskyites I used to know.
My second reaction was that there were two possibilities: (1) Rush did not know what an actual leftist extremist is; in which case he is a fool, and thus not worth listening to. (b) Rush knew she was not what he claimed she was, but said it anyway; in which case he is a liar, and thus not worth listening to.
I have not listened to him since.
