President Obama Announces More Key Administration Posts
WASHINGTON, DC Today, President Barack Obama announced his intent to appoint the following individuals to key Administration posts:
Reno Keoni Franklin Member, Advisory Council on Historic Preservation
Barbara Jeanne Ells Member, Board of Trustees of the Institute of American Indian and Alaska Native Culture and Arts Development
Princess Daazhraii Johnson Member, Board of Trustees of the Institute of American Indian and Alaska Native Culture and Arts Development
Beverly Wright Morris Member, Board of Trustees of the Institute of American Indian and Alaska Native Culture and Arts Development
C. Matthew Snipp Member, Board of Trustees of the Institute of American Indian and Alaska Native Culture and Arts Development
Randy L. Erwin Member, National Council on Federal Labor-Management Relations
President Obama said, I am pleased to announce that these experienced and committed individuals have decided to serve our country. I am confident that they will serve the American people well.
President Obama announced his intent to appoint the following individuals to key Administration posts:
Reno Keoni Franklin, Appointee for Member, Advisory Council on Historic Preservation
Reno Keoni Franklin is Tribal Chairman of the Kashia Band of Pomo Indians, a position he has held since 2013, and Vice Chairman of the Sonoma County Indian Health Project, a position he has held since 2002. Mr. Franklin previously served as Vice Chairman of the Kashia Bank of Pomo Indians from 2010 to 2012. He served as Director of Government Relations for the Yochadehe Dehe Wintun Nation from 2009 to 2013 and as General Chairman of the National Association of Tribal Historic Preservation Officers from 2009 to 2011. Mr. Franklin served on the Department of Health and Human Services Tribal Advisory Committee from 2010 to 2011. He was Chairman of National Indian Health Board from 2009 to 2011 and Chairman of California Rural Indian Health Board from 2007 to 2011. Mr. Franklin received an A.S. from Santa Rosa Junior College.
Barbara Jeanne Ells, Appointee for Member, Board of Trustees of the Institute of American Indian and Alaska Native Culture and Arts Development
Barbara Jeanne Ells is a patron of the arts, with specific interest in the arts and crafts of the Southwest and of Native American cultures. Ms. Ells established and taught at multiple Head Start pre-schools, and helped found and staff a safe house for abused women and children in Terre Haute, Indiana, including a day-care center. Ms. Ells has a B.S. from Wheelock College.
Princess Daazhraii Johnson, Appointee for Member, Board of Trustees of the Institute of American Indian and Alaska Native Culture and Arts Development
Princess Daazhraii Johnson is Partner and Consultant at Tsi baa Enterprises, a position she has held since 2014. Ms. Johnson served as Executive Director at the Gwichin Steering Committee from 2011 to 2014 and as Alaska Director at the Indigenous Leadership Institute from 2009 to 2010. She was Production Manager of Native Voices at the Autry National Center from 2005 to 2006 and Producer at Lucaj Films, Inc. from 2004 to 2005. Ms. Johnson was first appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Institute of American Indian and Alaska Native Culture and Arts Development in 2014. Ms. Johnson received a B.A. from The George Washington University.
Beverly Wright Morris, Appointee for Member, Board of Trustees of the Institute of American Indian and Alaska Native Culture and Arts Development
Beverly Wright Morris is Producer, Director, and Owner of Chain Reaction Productions. Ms. Morris has been associated with the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) since 1988 as a Student, Staff Member, Producer, and Director. She was Director of the IAIA Summer Film and Television Workshop from 2004 to 2007. Ms. Morris is a member of the IAIA Foundation Board of Directors and the Museum of New Mexico Foundation Board of Trustees, the Santa Fe Community Foundation Board of Directors, and serves as the Chair Emeritus of the Native American Advised Endowment Fund Committee. Ms. Morris received a B.F.A. from Stephen F. Austin State.
Dr. C. Matthew Snipp, Appointee for Member, Board of Trustees of the Institute of American Indian and Alaska Native Culture and Arts Development
Dr. C. Matthew Snipp is the Burnet C. and Mildred Finley Wohlford Professor of Humanities and Sciences at Stanford University and the Director of the Institute for Research in the Social Sciences Secure Data Center, positions he has held since 2008 and 2007, respectively. Dr. Snipp has worked at Stanford University since 1996 and served as Director of the Center for Comparative Studies of Race and Ethnicity from 2008 to 2011, and as a Professor from 1996 to 2008. He worked as a Visiting Professor at Harvard University from 2003 to 2004 and was a Professor and Associate Professor at the University of WisconsinMadison from 1988 to 1996. Dr. Snipp currently serves on the National Institute of Child Health and Developments Population Science Subcommittee and previously served on the Census Bureaus Racial and Ethnic Advisory Committee, Board of Scientific Counselors for the Centers for Disease Control, National Center for Health Statistics, and Inter-university Consortium of Political and Social Researchs Council. Dr. Snipp received an A.B. from the University of California, Davis and an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of WisconsinMadison.
Randy L. Erwin, Appointee for Member, National Council on Federal Labor-Management Relations
Randy L. Erwin is currently the National Secretary-Treasurer of the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE), a position he has held since 2016. Mr. Erwin has served in a variety of positions at NFFE, including National Secretary-Treasurer from 2015 to 2016, Executive Director from 2014 to 2015, Director of Legislative Affairs from 2005 to 2014, and Assistant to the National President from 2001 to 2005. In December 2016, Mr. Erwin was appointed to the Federal Salary Council. Mr. Erwin received a B.S. and an M.A. from Georgetown University and an M.A. and M.B.A from Johns Hopkins University.
