This is a good summary--but I know that, as usual, Trump fans and Trump will ignore it and continue to spread lies and fear!

My new piece in @washingtonpost debunks Trump absurd claim that Democrats rigging election by voting 10 times

This is how hard it would be to pull off widespread voter fraud.

In a span of two weeks, federal courts have struck down Republican-backed voting restrictions in six states, including laws that required strict forms of government-issued ID in order to cast a ballot, cut back on early-voting days and made it harder to register. The rulings found that the laws in Texas, North Carolina, Michigan, North Dakota, Kansas and Wisconsin violated the Voting Rights Act by discriminating against people of color, sometimes with almost surgical precision.
Rather than seeing these rulings as a victory for democracy, Donald Trump says they will lead to a record number of fraudulent votes for Hillary Clinton in November. The voter-ID situation has turned out to be a very unfair development, Trump told The Washington Post. We may have people vote 10 times. .?.?. Why not? If you dont have voter ID, you can just keep voting and voting and voting.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump told supporters in Columbus, Ohio, Aug. 1 that he worries the Nov. 8 election "is going to be rigged." (The Washington Post)
.....................
If Trump wanted to vote 10 times in New York a state that requires voters to sign their names at the polls rather than show a photo ID hed have to vote in 10 different places, know the names and addresses of nine other registered voters in nine other precincts, be able to forge their exact signatures, and know that they hadnt voted yet. Each fraudulent vote would carry a penalty of five years in jail and a $10,000 fine, plus additional state penalties.
The risk of getting caught for voter impersonation far outweighs the reward of a few extra votes. Thats why there have been only 31 credible incidents of impersonation out of 1 billion votes cast in the United States since 2000 . In comparison, there are about 30 deaths by lightning in the country each year. I could not find a single example from the 1980s onward where voter impersonation could have swung one election or that there was any kind of conspiracy to do so, says Rick Hasen, a law professor at the University of California at Irvine and the author of The Voting Wars............................

Yeah, that's how that man thinks. The normal political process is "rigged" if people vote against him.

(1,306 posts)Election fraud, however, is very real and is accomplished by "rigging" electronic
voting machines and other deceitful ways of altering the correct vote count...
which is something the Republicans have honed to a fine art.
So, Trump is actually half-correct -- in his use of the word "rigged" -- but he is
inadvertently shining sunlight on his own party's sins and misdemeanors. The
GOP are the true riggers of elections.
