Time has come to move Talbot Boys statue (LTTE Easton MD)

... no one is suggesting we tear down the Talbot Boys statue. It should be moved to a cemetery or museum where it can be viewed as an article of history and not a symbol of what our county government stands for in the 21st century. As a symbol of the Confederate effort to tear down this great country, the statue and Confederate flag dont belong on government property flaunting the flag that symbolized that effort to maintain and spread slavery throughout America.
This is not a black/white issue. Many whites understand that the Confederacy was one of the worst causes for which men ever fought. The spread of slavery was an abomination, which several hundred thousands of honorable Americans died to abolish. The 85 Talbot Boys (CSA) fought to spread slavery while the nearly 350 Union Talbot Boys fought to end slavery and keep the Union whole.
Not only is the statue a delusional monument that falsifies Talbot Countys history in the Civil War, it contains the Confederate battle flag which has devolved into the most overt symbol of racism in the country ...
We cannot change our history. Our history included slavery. We cannot decontaminate the Confederate enterprise from the odium of slavery. We have changed the course of American history by abolishing slavery and eventually abolishing the Jim Crow laws. Now, it is time to remove our local symbol of slavery and racism from the court house grounds ...
