Snowden Files: The Real ‘Men In Black,’ Hollywood And The Great UFO False Flag
Hidden among the avalanche of documents leaked by Edward Snowden were images from a Powerpoint presentation by GCHQ, entitled The Art of Deception: Training for a New Generation of Online Covert Operations. Images include camouflaged moths, inflatable tanks, women in burqas, and complex diagrams plastered with jargon, buzzwords and slogans: Disruption Operational Playbook, Swap the real for the false and vice versa, People make decisions as part of groups and, beneath a shot of hands shuffling a deck of cards, We want to build Cyber Magicians. Curiously, sandwiched in the middle of the document are three photographs of UFOs. Not real ones classic fakes: one was a hub cap, another a bunch of balloons, and one that turned out to be a seagull.
Devout ufologists might seize upon this as further proof that our governments know something about aliens and their transportation methods, but really it suggests the opposite: the UFO community is a textbook case of a gullible group susceptible to manipulation. Having spent too long watching the skies and The X-Files, its implied, theyll readily swallow whatever snippet of evidence suits their grand theory.
If there really is a UFO conspiracy, its surely the worst-kept secret in history. Roswell, Area 51, flashing lights, little green men, abductions its all been fed through the pop culture mill to the point of fatigue. Even the supposed enforcers of the secret, the men in black, have their own movie franchise. But a new documentary, Mirage Men, unearths compelling evidence that UFO folklore was actually fabricated by the US government. Rather than covering up the existence of aliens, could it be that the real conspiracy has been persuading us to believe in them?
Mirage Mens chief coup is to land an actual man in black: a former Air Force special investigations officer named Richard Doty, who admits to having infiltrated UFO circles. A fellow UFO researcher says: Doty had this wonderful way to sell it Im with the government. You cooperate with us and Im going to tell you what the government really knows about UFOs, deep down in those vaults. Doty and his colleagues fed credulous ufologists lies and half-truths, knowing their fertile imaginations would do the rest. In return, they were apprised of chatter from the community, thus alerting the military when anyone was getting to close to their top-secret technology. And if the Soviets thought the US really was communing with aliens, all the better.

(28,979 posts)because they happened with some frequency in Washington state (dozens) by our local Air Force base as they did in Colorado Springs. I hadn't heard of the New Mexico mutilations. WTF? And I am supposed to trust the Pentagon. To happily vote to let them kill off half the planet in my name. FUCK that shit. Their behavior all my adult life has made me view the military industrial complex as an evil entity that willingly destroyed our country. We live in a police state filled with psychopaths. They had nuclear wetdreams, they still get hard at the thought of bombing brown skinned people, pillaging the world, shaking down the citizenry. Propaganda and lies. The only thing we can be sure of.

(28,979 posts)We had dozens of incidents in the 70s. It's where the term black op helicopters came from. One theory for the mutiliations was evidence of some kind of weird cult or initiation activity by military.
I have never read any definitive reasonable explanation of the phenomenon. I googled and found the one commonality between the sites was a sizeable Air force presence nearby wherever there were reports. The article you linked did not conclude it was nothing but animal mutilations. In fact it seemed to suggest it was more than likely the way animals bloated causing them to tear and look like they had been mutilated. Of course, this does not explain why farmers only reported this stuff during a limited time in the 70s and why they never noticed such a phenomenon before or after.
On the other hand, if someone participated in such activities, the statute of limitations is long past and someone would I imagine have confessed by now. Anyway, one of those mysteries lost in the past but certainly not totally solved after hearing our military intentionally tried to deceive us about UFOs, etc.

Likewise the "Bermuda Triangle" tale-spinners.
Uri Gellar was shown to be a fake.
Crop circles were created by some guys from a local pub, using boards and rope.
Likewise, rumor started going around about UFO's or "Satanic cults" doing "mutilations," so the stories blew out of proportion.
There is no evidence of UFO's or "Satanic cults" doing "cattle mutilations."
All the confirmed evidence, (as opposed to wild accusations,) show natural predators and insects. That's all.

So it's not about what did or didn't happen but about what we were being told was happening.

(46,373 posts)Back from the 1950's until the 1980's, the old Soviet Union encouraged UFO tales, since the truth was they were testing (with mixed results) spy satellite technology.
Why would the US military make up flying saucer stories?

(28,979 posts)or something like that. On the other hand, I was more inclined to go with the mass hysteria scenario. Copycat sightings and hoaxes.
Not a really good reason for them to panic us about outer space monsters when there were perfectly ordinary boogie men to fear, ie. Cold War.
But the idea of military experimentation taken to mad levels cannot be totally dismissed. If they weren't well documented who would believe the syphillis and LSD experiments the Army pulled.

OpenMinds blog letter to the USAF
Air Force regarding allegations of UFO disinformation
Alejandro Rojas May 6, 2014
I sent this letter to the U.S. Air Force on July 11, 2013 to solicit an official response to allegations by ex-special agent Richard Doty of the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) that he participated in spreading UFO disinformation. Among his claims, he says he broke into a civilians home, created hoaxed documents, and lied to two U.S. Senators. Some of these are criminal acts that he claims he committed on orders from his superiors in the AFOSI. Whether or not this is true, these acts were committed while he was an AFOSI special agent, and I believe the U.S. Air Force needs to respond.
After working with the AFOSI public affairs department on Freedom of Information Act Requests (FOIA) related to this incident, I was told I would be able to speak to someone who could give me an official response. However, once I received the documents I was told they had nothing further to say.
Allegations of Criminal Misconduct
Air Force Office of Special Investigations Agent Richard Doty claims to have partaken in the acts of misinforming members of congress, breaking into the private residence of a civilian government contractor, and disseminating known forgeries of government documents while on active duty in the 1980s. Furthermore, he claims to have committed these acts on the orders of his superiors at AFOSI.
Although his claims have garnered a large amount of public attention, including having been the subject of several books (including one by New York Times Journalist Howard Blum), and were directly related to the government contractor mentioned above having been temporarily committed to a mental health facility, the U.S. Air Force has yet to comment on the veracity of his claims.
Was the U.S. Air Force involved with these criminal acts, as claimed by Doty, and if not what was done regarding his conduct?
