Former NBC Employee Corroborates Some Of The Cosby Allegations
Source: Business Insider
"A former NBC employee and Bill Cosby confidante has claimed to the New York Daily News that he acted as a cover-up for the comedian as he slept with women and paid them off.
........
Frank Scotti, 90, who worked for the studio where "The Cosby Show" was filmed from 1984 to 1992, told the Daily News that he took out money orders in his name to pay women who he suspects Cosby had slept with. Scotti also alleges that he would stand guard at Cosby's dressing room while he met with young models.
......
Scotti provided signed memorabilia and photographs of himself and Cosby to the Daily News. He also showed receipts for money orders with the names of women on them at least one of whom recently stepped forward to accuse Cosby of sexual assault."

(63,263 posts)It's facile and dismissive to shrug and say "well, his performances are still good" when there's so much more to it than that.
It's not simply a matter of shrugging and saying "he's so much different on-screen." If even just a few of the allegations are true, then that means he's a half-century of success through deceit in addition to the crimes themselves.

(5,946 posts)and there are people who are just as portrayed a they are as well.
take John Wayne, chicken hawk vs Jimmy Stewart appearing as meek and mild mannered and one of the first to enlist in WWII and remained a hawk (not so chicken) the rest of his life, but Wayne starred in blood and guts movies and Stewart in semi socialist movies, ha ha in the 50's.
I don't like stars defining what is right and wrong, they can read scripts but that does not make them experts.
As for Cosby, I, coming from a "thrifty" family learned about album cut outs at a young age, so most of my music and comedy was rejected by the public at large. I had come across a Cosby album which my parents let me by, and to my shock it was the same act on both sides of the album. One side was the 7 PM family show, the other side was the 2 am adult side. So my idea of Cosby as gross began at a young age. I understand I am a bit of a prude, but this was truly disgusting, not just foul language which how some comedians appeal to different audiences. I enjoy the words you are not supposed to say by Carlen, it was/is funny.
If a celebrity is capable, I have no problem with them running for office, i.e. Al Franken, but some others not so much. celebrities do not need to be perfect people,If they are charitable in their life, I might listen to them about charity. I don't really care about their sex lives for affairs and things, but criminals should be prosecuted no matter how famous they are or how much money they have and no one should be adored because they can say lines. But setting a moral line -nope
Orrex
(63,263 posts)You can't have it both ways: if you're going to argue that the "family man" performances must be assessed independent of Cosby's real-life behavior, then you have no basis for judging the man in terms of the B-sides of his comedy albums.
hollysmom
(5,946 posts)Actors don't write the scripts often, with exceptions like Woody Allen, but comedians are usually responsible for the words in their act. they choose to do it, they don't have to write it but are frequently credited with doing so. It is more an example of how TV news, interviewers, or what ever determine a reputation - they decide someone is an icon, there for deserves respect.--- Do I believe Newhart was a bumbling man on the cusp of history, no but I enjoyed his albums never had a great desire to meet him in person, I just never listened to that Bill Cosby album again and did not take it with me when I moved out, but got it back when my parents died, - ha revenge! I should see what that would go for on E-bay now???? Gross Bill Cosby album - how much would you pay for it?

A lawyer would make hash out of this as proof. Now, if the guy had provided Cosby with drugs used to take the women out, that would be far more damning.

(15,480 posts)First, more from the OP link:
Cosby would reportedly claim he was "interviewing" the young models for parts in his show.
He allegedly had a deal with a Manhattan modeling agency that would stop by the set with several girls at once. Cosby would then take his pick, Scotti said.
"The owner [of the agency] just walked right out," Scotti told the Daily News. "She knew exactly what was going to go on. Then hed tell me, 'Stand outside the door and dont let anyone in.' Now you put that together and figure [out] why."
Cosby's accusers have said that the comedian lured them in with promises of career help and mentorship, then gave them pills to make them immobile so he could assault them. The allegations span decades some dating back to 1969 and one as recent as 2004.

Take a look at this photo w/Cosby & then 4 year old child actress, with her hand on his crotch. She is the ONLY female member of the Cosby Show cast to speak up in his defense, but then she was only FOUR years old at the time - either too young for him to exploit sexually, or to young to understand/remember if he was exploiting her. The photo indicates Bill did use her for some pleasure.
And there's Lisa Bonnet's tweet:
Lisa Bonet: Commenting On Bill Cosbys Rape Allegations?
Right in the middle of the firestorm surrounding Bill and his numerous rape allegations, his former onscreen daughter may have tweeted a very bold message.
Lisa, who played Bills daughter Denise on The Cosby Show, apparently tweeted from an unverified account: According to the karma of past actions, ones destiny unfolds, even though everyone wants to be so lucky Nothing stays in the dark 4ever!

(15,480 posts)Update: The Twitter account attributed to Lisa Bonet has since been suspended and her manager said Sunday that she was not responsible for the account or the tweets. The original story is below.
For years, bad blood was rumored to have existed between Bonet and Cosby, who was reportedly incensed by her sex scene with Mickey Rourke in Angel Heart in 1987 and a nude magazine photo shoot she did a year later.
In 2002, tabloids reported Bonet refused to join the cast for a 10th-anniversary special, quoting an unnamed castmate as saying: Year after year, we watched Bill throw Lisa one bone after another, and all she did was bite his hand. The rest of us were happy to be on a hit show, but Lisa didnt seem to appreciate her good fortune.

According to Scotti, some of the girls were as young as 16.
Scotti claims Cosby would put women he especially liked up in apartments and give them up to $2,000 per month.
After decades, Scotti's even saved receipts from money orders he says he gave those women for Cosby.

Yet with human nature being what it has always been and man's inability to control some of his more degenerate impulses and instincts, as it is, I am let down but not surprised. He needs to just fade away. And if he faces some kind of criminal charges, so be it.

(53,235 posts)It's just that paying women he raped could look like he just paid them for consensual sex. And how would paying a woman prevent her from going to the authorities--if she wasn't afraid to?
If I had been one of those women, fear of being physically harmed (again) or fear of "you'll never work in this town again" might keep me from going to the authorities, not a money order. You don't blow the whistle on a moneymaker without dealing with scary consequences.
Maybe Cosby saw the payment as a justification for his crime. Sick, definitely. I don't have the mind of a rapist.
Anyway, I'm just seeing how this criminal would spin the payments.

(19,240 posts)are mindless sexual animals interested in only one thing. That is my opinion. I have yet to read anything that would make me change my mind about this story. It is all part of the War on Black Folks that the right wing wages 24-7. They especially love to target any Black male who has a positive public image. Apologies to the "every woman who says 'rape' must be telling the truth because men are such animals and because so many women have had their accusations blown off that we have to have affirmative action by assuming that all complaints are true" folks, but you really need to think about why this story is being fed to you on a silver media platter. Do you have any idea how difficult it is for women to report being sexually assaulted? I can tell you from experience that it's not an easy thing to do. And much less when that person is famous. So develop some empathy for women. I bet Angela Davis would.
