3 adults killed at Minn. day care; suspect sought

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. Three adults were killed early Monday at an in-home day care in a suburb northwest of Minneapolis, and a nearby college was locked down as police searched for a suspect who fled on a bicycle.
Police released few details about the deaths in Brooklyn Park early Monday. Inspector Todd Milburn said no one else was injured, but wouldn't say whether any children were present during the attack about 6:30 a.m.
Neighbors said police told them to stay home because the suspect was still on the loose. No arrests were made by midday Monday.
Hakeem Hughes, 18, said he heard screaming coming from the direction of the house around 6:30 a.m., but didn't pay much attention because children often played outside the home. When he went to catch his bus to school, he said police told him to go back inside because a gunman was on the loose.
"I'm just shocked about it," Hughes said. "They are good people. They are innocent people."

(33,982 posts)Will be interesting to see if a firearm was involved at all. Witnesses heard screaming, but dismissed it as playing children? One would think gunshots would suggest otherwise.

(33,982 posts)Like I said, be interesting to see.
Three victims sort of suggests a gun as well, but there have been mass-stabbings with up to 7 fatalities, so it's not impossible the weapon was something else.

(1,034 posts)A tragedy such as this may be considered "local crime". But I have a feeling all gun killings of all kind should be emphasized in the national media for as long as needed until our citizens are awakened from their stupor.
A murdered victim is not and should never be simply a statistic.
