A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after officers found a woman beheaded in the back garden of a London suburb.
The victim was found at an address on Nightingale Road, Edmonton, north London, just after 1pm on Thursday.
The Metropolitan police gave few details but said that the arrest had taken place.
The incident, coming two days after video of a terrorist beheading of a US journalist gained widespread media coverage, sparked speculation as to its cause.

Edmonton, North London has a pretty high concentration of Muslim residents, so they'll just have to stand by for the inevitable slings-and-arrows.
The police have said this much thus far:
There is no suggestion that the killing had any terrorist motive.

The assailant was 25. They tasered him, and a policeman's wrist was broken in the scuffle. Full police statement at

The misnamed "honor" killing comes to mind as the motive--time will tell.

(135,425 posts)This is not the first beheading in London, either. Not long ago, a random soldier in mufti was hit by a car and while he lay in the road two assholes chopped his head off on a London street. It was a very bloody scene.

(25,406 posts)is similar to jumping to the conclusion, as several DUers did, that the Boston bombings were perpetrated by tax-protesting Tea-partiers (based upon the fact that it was on April 15).
I would wait for further information on this.
